What is an implant?
The dental implant is a prosthesis placed in the maxillary or mandibular bone that simulates the root of a tooth. What is an implant?
It is made of Titanium, a material that the body recognizes as its own and that after a healing period called osseointegration is “welded” to the bone.
Once osseointegrated (it has been attached to the bone), the crown is made, which simulates the tooth or tooth to be replaced and in most cases is screwed to the implant.
It is the best system to replace the absence of teeth since it allows to be more conservative and not to file neighboring teeth.
It is a treatment that hardly gives any discomfort after surgery, being a very comfortable procedure for the patient.
During the entire treatment the patient does not feel pain, since it is always performed under anesthesia. Once the implant placement is completed, if the doctor considers it appropriate, the patient will be prescribed an antibiotic and / or analgesic / anti-inflammatory regimen.
Before placing the implant we do a case study, and we take x-rays. The case is always analyzed in depth since it is different for each patient and all decisions are made in common between the surgeon who places the (Dr. Pujol) and the prosthodontist who makes the cover (Dr. Baldrich).
